Food galore

First and foremost, Happy 28th National Day, Bruneiku yang tercinta.

I’ve been editing this post a thousand times trying to make it as appropriate as possible.

Just because I work at one of my favorite bakery doesn’t make me bias to any other bakery, yeah? Just that I’m there everyday that’s why I get the chance to try different ones every once in a while.

I judge based on the quality and whether it’s worth the money you spent. And I write based on a customer’s view. Please don’t get me wrong. Take it as a chance to improve. You need to take how customers view your product and try to satisfy the customer at its best.

Got the chance to buy the food for review since it’s my off day today ^^

I hope you enjoy this post since it took me an hour or so writing since I’m multi tasking, eating, watching How I Met Your Mother, blogging, tweeting. And now I’m full and can’t be bothered to move a bit. guilty pleasure Also, sometimes I let my sister do the judging with me as well. So the reviews are based on two different person with different taste buds.

Anyways, here’s a promised review of my favorite donuts from Bakerlyn. The only reason I like Bakerlyn is because of the donuts. And the cakes (I’m already tired of the cakes since we have the same thing every birthday).

There wasn’t much choice left since we went to.. The one in.. Citis Square? So I just bought what’s left. One of my top favorite is vanilla custard. I usually buy this or/and strawberry custard. Both are the best. My next favorite is either strawberry jam or raspberry jam donut. But it’s kinda sweet since it’s just donut and jam. I also like apple cinnamon. They have one of the best donut in town (I don’t dare to say the best yet since I haven’t try other places, but the best so far). For $1.20 each, it’s worth the penny for the quality and thumb-licking goodness (and healthier choice, I believe). I’ll say 8 out of 10. But the one in Kiulap is much better in my opinion.

Went to Fun Donut but.. The environment is just.. The smell of food is too much. The door to the kitchen is opened. Is there even any door? I know before everyone was crazy about their donut. But I’m sorry to say that.. Despite the donut’s fancy name, there’s not much choice left and it was.. Dry. So.. Uhm. Nope. Thanks but no thanks. I hope it will improve soon and I don’t mind giving a second chance. Environment, I give 4 out of 10.

Grabbed garlic bread from there. Although it was cold (best eaten freshly baked or heated).. For, I think $1.60, the portion wasn’t bad and the taste is good. Just that if it’s kept in a warmer instead of in open air, it will be better. I hope the owner will reconsider my opinion So a 6 out of 10.

As for eclairs from Bakerlyn, sorry to say but… no. Two eclairs for $1, very dry and the chocolate tasted a little weird. That will be the first and the last I will try that. Unless they try improving it, then I don’t mind.

As a customer, I have high expectation especially on bakery which is.. Kinda famous, or currently leading. I don’t mind giving any of the ones I gave bad reviews on another chance but only if the quality has improved. And worth it.

A red affair

It’s not me if I don’t blog about food, kan?

I just got back from work and had my late dinner. Not supposed to have my day off tomorrow but since I have to go to school and court, I already asked permission. Another busy day

For those complaining that my reviews are too personal-like, this is a personal blog. Don’t expect me to write a magazine-like review.

So I said I wanted to try the Red Velvet.. And I got the chance to try it today with ze boss.

My sister tried one of the first batch but it wasn’t good. But now, I realized the customers usually buy two or more. It’s like one of the best selling ones. They even have a big cake if you want.. Anyway, I tried it today and yes, I have to say, it’s good now. My sister tried it as well, and she loves it. The cream cheese is perfect, the cake is nice but I believe it can be better. You can taste the cocoa from the cupcake. The portion is extremely generous. I even heard customers saying “atu kanyang makan Red Velvet kamu atu.” I can’t even finish one whole cupcake by myself. So.. Overall, both of us gave it a 8 out of 10.

And my cat, he’s like our food buddy too. Yes, he likes the cream cheese too. I guess it’s his new favorite food. My cat loves ice cream too okay? (now I realize how weird my cat is…… I think he’s human 0.0)

I have a picture of the red velvet but.. But being clumsy me…… Hancur sikit. Hahaha. So I’ll provide this post with picture soon.

Oh and the red velvet is only for $3 each. Some of the customers even said it’s one of the best in town… So, do come by and try

Also, if you have any suggestions of places with good Red Velvet which I should try, do tell me!

Yet another review

Bought another ticket for another shopping gateaway. Yay! I am tired from work and as usual, I just wanna cut my feet off. Sakit! I should buy myself a better shoes for work. And pants. And I’ve been super pissed because of school stuff. My day off on Monday yet.. No rest. I need to go to school, DST to register Hecas, court, photocopy this and that.. Take my negatives from the shop.

Anyway, here’s another review, obviously on Mr Baker’s because it’s the only place I go to everyday… And please ah, I pay myself. So.. Reviews only when I say it’s good and I have money. I realize a lot of people buy the Red Velvet. So I should buy one.. After I get my first pay… And I need cash to develop and buy more films for my Diana Mini. Oh wait.. Out of topic liao.. Let’s get back to review….

I’ve never tried the eclairs before. So my sister and I decided to give it a try today. My sister bought it first and after she tweeted me that it’s really good, I decided to use the last cash I have which I’m supposed to use to get my negatives and CD to buy one.

For someone like me, I prefer more chocolatey and sweet stuff. But for my sister, she likes it not too sweet. This is just perfect to her liking. And I have to agree with her, the eclair is really smooth and nice. She even told me to make a review on this one, and yes, it’s worth a review. Usually the eclairs are sold out by afternoon.. So you should grab yours earlier, it’s only 60 cents each.

Also.. As usual, I always spend all my cash on.. food (duh!) so.. After the baker put Dark Chocolate Mousse… I felt like the mousse was calling my name.. Lol k exaggerating. So obviously, being me, I ended up buying one.

Now, if you’re like me, love dark chocolate, anything chocolatey, the sweetness is good enough to your liking (not the kind of sweet that will make you go diabetic) then this one is a must try. Inda rugi. I know I said this in my previous reviews but trust me.. When I say, it’s good.. It’s really good

There’s another one we always love.. Fresh Fruit Roulade. It’s not available most of the time though.. Just recently baru ada. It’s like swiss roll but with fruits in it. So.. If you happen to be at Mr Baker’s and this one is available, please buy it. Nyaman! It’s frustrating if you go there but nada

I have a feeling I’m gonna get fatter from working there…….. Hahaha! I should now strict myself with only a few cash everyday and no more food T.T

And I have one more review.. on a product. No, not food. A product. But.. that can wait Oh! And another review on my favorite donuts! Soon! SOOOON! K.

Review : @mrbakerbakeshop ‘s cream pannacotta

Note: And just as usual, no this is not a paid review or advert. However I am more than happy to do a paid review or advert for you. Paid. Hahaha! As if someone would pay me T.T

I know I said I’m on hiatus but when it comes to review.. I just have to share it before I start forgetting everything. I’m still busy with school stuff to manage and working in the afternoon until 10pm ( I know! I finally have a job. At my favorite place on Earth. Imagine surrounded by food all day long.. Just looking at em makes me happy :’) )

Anyway.. I just tried out this one from Mr Baker’s .. Cream Pannacotta. Being a custard lover, this is definitely my favorite.. After custard lamington. I’m not sure if it’s custard but it tastes like one…

It’s selling at $2.50 each and if you’re a custard lover like me.. Then there’s no regret to spend every penny on this.

And I hope the picture is good enough to make you go nuts and hungry. Hahah!

I shall go now. I’m going back to.. Real life. Busy all day long. I’ll miss you guys

Another update…

I tried the croissant sandwich (again, I’m not sure of the name but it’s usually next to the cashier selling at $3.50 (I’ll double check on the price) each)

I’m not really a big fan of the croissant but according to my sister’s reaction, it’s really good. There’s the usual sandwich veggies, chicken ham (2 slices), a thick cut of eggs and cheese. It comes in a nice container so you can buy it for your breakfast or tea break again, another recommended one from the bakery.

And again, as said on my previous review, these are all my honest opinion

Hiatus.

I’m going for a temporary hiatus, at least for the next few days, or a week or two. I need to handle some stuff, going to school and such. I need to cross off everything from my to-do list first. I’ll be back in no time

I can’t be bothered to blog. I mean.. there’s nothing to blog.I sent my films to develop yesterday morning. And received my A Level results. It was what I expected actually. I am glad enough that what I hoped for – which was a good grade for Computing, considering the fact that I spent a lot of time on my programming, and I cried because of my Paper 2 programming paper, came true. Although my grades aren’t good enough, I’m thankful enough. Alhamdulillah Ya Rabb. No more anxiously waiting for result.

I’m thankful with everyone around me, for all the cheer and all. And to my two teachers, although they both left my class early to further their Master degree, and despite my result, they still congratulate me and said I’ve tried. They’re also helping me out with that I need to do next and such. They are definitely the best teacher I’ve ever had

I have a long day today. It’s 2 am. I shall sleep.

Went for SMARTER’s Dinner last night. Won myself a 10kg rice.. Baras seguni, bah. HAHAHA. Guess, I still have the luck to win those lucky draw. I brought my baby Sunshine. Saw Kuya Gatz, bonding moments with the divas. Went home around.. almost midnight.

I also added three more stuff to my make up kit.. A blusher from Revlon (040 Softspoken Pink – Rose rosissant) and two Silkygirl Funky Eyelights Pencil in 08 Frosty Silver and 06 Metallic Bronze.

As you know, I really have been thinking about getting a Pink Fisheye 2. Not now though. One day. If I have the cash, I would get it for my birthday. I doubt anyone would buy it for my birthday.. it’s $100+ and.. it’s a ‘toy camera’.. So, I guess getting it for my birthday will be a great gift for myself.

Yes, I’m still on a trial and error mode with my Sunshine. I’m hoping my 5th roll of film will give a nice result. I just need to go out more and take pictures more.

I had a rough start with my Sunshine, but I know things will get better. I’m putting hopes on you Sunshine.

I’ve even read some review that it’s better to start of with a Fisheye or La Sardina since Diana cameras can be a little bit complex. But I’m starting to get comfortable with the camera already..

My wish it to bring my Sunshine for an outing. In Bandar. I just need a company. With lomo camera.

I’ve been thinking on how to make strings and hang it on the camera. The cap is too.. it’s like, it’s easy for you to lose it, you know.

I still need to update yesterday’s post with pictures.

Everyday.

Everyday the same thoughts haunt my mind. Everyday the same questions repeat themselves over and over like a constant echo in my head. Everyday feels like a routine of the same emotions. Everyday I look for an escape.

Life is too ironic to fully understand. It takes sadness to know what happiness is, noise to appreciate silence and absence to value presence.

Maybe it’s time I just start pretending nothing ever happened between us, I mean since it was so easy for you.
