What’s in my make-up bag?

note: scheduled post

… And why I think I need an intervention.

Well, you see, I went on a MAJOR makeup spree this year. I went total nuts and ended up splurging at least (AT LEAST) BND50 per month only on makeup. I actually can’t afford myself anymore 😥 lol Luckily I have a part time job.

What’s in my Everyday Makeup Bag?

IMG_9004.JPGTwo-third of it are lipsticks, lip creams, lip gloss. It’s crazy! I have several more in my makeup stash (but shh!) I will review most of the products in the future, or you can contact me directly and request which post I should write first.

From top left, I have my newly bought Loreal Mat Magique in Rose Ivory – hit or miss? That will wait for my review. Next month. lol

Below it is my go-to Za Total Hydration BB Cream UV White.

This is my very first BB Cream. Apparently it comes only in one shade which is Bright. When you first apply it, it will be VERY obvious that the cream is way, way, way lighter than your skin colour. Not sure about you girls, but after I put on face powder, the tone settled down into my actual skin colour. I only wear this when I have events to attend. It contains SPF 50+ so it is good for your skin especially you live in very sunny areas like Brunei.

I won’t say it is my favorite, but it is the only one I own that is decent. I have Holika Holika’s but I don’t really like it that much because it made my skin even oilier (despite it being claimed suitable for oily skin).

I am obviously on the right. Excuse my chubby cheeks.

On top, there’s my NYX Lip Liner in Burgundy and my ELF Retractable Lip Brush.

I like how creamy the lip liner is. It glides smoothly and the pigmentation is quite good. I will give more reviews and swatches in another post dedicated to my NYX products.

The retractable lip brush is normal, nothing fancy schmancy about it.

Then there’s my Nivea Lip Balm, IN2IT Lipstick in Sephia, my newly bought Stila lipstick in Nude, The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in Redhot Raspberry , NYX Lipcream in Copenhagen (love!) and Istanbul, followed by my (another favorite) Stila stay all day liquid lipstick in Fiery.

Then there’s my Lime Crime Velvetine in Suedeberry, two NYX Lip buttercreams and my favorite The Face Shop Face:It Waterproof Autoliner.

Next to those are my Revlon Colour Stay Matte Balm, NYX’s Mascara in Le Frou Frou, Benefit They’re Real! Push-up Liner and IN2IT Liquid Eyeliner.

I will make a separate post for NYX products, Benefit products, Limecrime and Stila lipsticks 😀

Why did I bring all different shades of lipstick in my “everyday” make up bag when I won’t even use most of them?
I love choices. One day, I wanna wear nude or light coloured lipsticks, another day I might wanna use my bold coloured lipsticks.

Why can’t I leave them at home? It’s a hassle to keep changing my lipstick in my bag so why not all? 😉

I think it is time for me to limit my spending on lipsticks. Maybe I should only start spending after I finish writing ALLLLL these reviews. Oh well.

What’s in YOUR make-up bag?

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm and The Face Shop FaceIt Waterproof Autoliner

Hi! It has been a while since my last beauty review. So! Here’s an overdue post for you girls.

Today’s products are: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm and The Face Shop FaceIt Waterproof Autoliner. These two products are my overly used ones last Eid. Oh have I told you that I have an ultimate favorite eyeliner now? I did say I love Skinfood’s Eyeliner but here’s my latest favorite (please excuse my review post on Skinfood. That was one of my first review posts lol. Super noob!)

I never really bother to do a full makeup on myself so most of the time I only put my Za BB Cream, my compact powder, eyeliner and lipstick – I tend to put on crazy lipsticks nowadays. I now own a Limecrime in Suedeberry – which is on a neon-orange-pink side, that will be on another post (I say this all the time, lol sorry girls!) but I love it! So fancy! Anyways!!! Back to my original post.

IMG_6775.JPGSo Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Standout Remarquable (250)

The balm is in bright, neutral red. It is creamy and glides smoothly when applied and kinda velvety. The pigmentation is good so you only need to do it in one swipe.

It moisturizes well. But.. I have chapped lips. So I tend to lick my lips when it dries out. So an hour or two after that, I usually have to re-do my lipstick as half of it would be gone. Such a disaster! Note to self – use lip scrub!! Else, it stays on up to four hours (or more) without eating or drinking (unless you try to eat without having the food touch your lips. lol!) Sadly, it doesn’t really dries off as matte.

It has a mild minty smell. The tip is quite large so it might be hard to put on precisely. But that doesn’t bother me much.

The packaging and the tip reminds me of crayons. Super cute. It is quite light so I can bring this anywhere. I’ve been eying on this for quite a while and then my friend told me that it is quite good so I went straight to Guardian and bought this for myself. It was on sale so I got it for around BND17+ or probably cheaper. Actual price is BND19.90

Next! The Face Shop FaceIt Waterproof Eyeliner in 01 BLACK.

It claims to be ” a super-strong waterproof eyeliner that does not smudge by perspiration, water, sebum or hot steam.”

Ummi introduced this to me. I was hesitant to get one at first BUT she proved me wrong. I had bad experience with auto liner so I did not put that much hope in this.

But it turned out to be my current favorite (I’m on my second autoliner right now!). The first one lasted me for.. a month or so, depending on how frequent I use this.

It claimed to have a “clearly defined coloration.” It does have a creamy texture and it glides well on your eyelid. The first time I tried it, I love how the colour turns out. Thee pigmentation is good so I only need to draw once. And when I put it on, it was so easy and surprisingly I managed to do both eyes without any mistakes. I usually had to keep fixing until I get balanced lines – it is hard since my eye shapes are different on both side.

This autoliner is smudge-proof when it dries off AND water-proof!

I don’t remember how much it cost me but I think it was less than BND15 (and you get discount if you are a member so yay!)

The packaging is simple. It comes with a built-in sharpener – I read reviews saying it was useless but in my opinion, it does what it is supposed to do, and it wasn’t a pain to clean so no complains for that.

However, it is quite hard to get the edges right. So I will still go back for my Skinfood’s gel liner if I were to draw ‘cat eye’. I’m still trying to use liquid liner because I love how it usually turns out but I don’t have steady hands 😦

May-June Beauty Haul

Selamat Berpuasa, ya’ll. Won’t be posting much (or none) food posts for the time being although I have several on my drafts. So insyaAllah, if I am not too busy (read: sleeping, watching Korean Shows), I’ll post up beauty reviews yeah?

Part of my two months haul. Some are not included though.

On the left:
Holika Holika 36.5 degree Fermentation Mask Sheet. It contains 5 different masks – red ginseng – wrinkle care, pomegranate – anti oxidant, cordyceps sinensis – revitalizes, lyciums – brightens and porio cocos – acne care. Won’t be writing any reviews on masks as I usually wear them to relax my face (because I’ve tried so much that I have no idea what their differences are anymore). Got this for BND5 at the recent Consumer Fair.

Top Left to Right:
Biore Cleansing Oil – review soon. Decided to try this because I love their Cleasing Oil-on cotton product (which has improved version now! Wanted to buy one but I still have half box left). This costs BND19.55 (on sale) at Watson.

Holika Holika Petit BB Cream – claimed to be good for oily/combination skin. I have yet to try this. It comes as a bundle purchase with Smoothie Peeling Cream, both at BND 10.

Holika Holika Smoothie Peeling Gel – review soon

Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge – claimed to be the best and cheapest cleaner for brushes. Review coming up soon.

Daiso Charcoal Natural Pack – review will be combined with the detergent.

Bottom Left to Right:
Za 12 in 1 BB Cream in Bright – my first and my current favorite (budget wise and function wise – my face is less oily).

IN2IT Lipstick in Sepia – still trying to find a nice lipstick that looks like Max’s in 2 Broke Girls. Found one from Revlon or L’oreal but that will wait until my next allowance.

Nivea Lip Balm – Fruity Shine Strawberry

Bedak Sejuk (Cold Powder) – my current skin care favorite. Traditional is better, no? Review will be up soon together with Azza Cold Powder 🙂

Lime Crime Velvetines–Wishlist

Quick post! I promise!

Finally. First makeup item I decided to put in my wishlist!
Lime Crime Velvetine in Suedeberry and Red Velvet!
(Images taken from Lime Crime website)

Red Velvet

Although it is liquid base, it dries off as matte. I love how vibrant the colours are! Would love to own these two colours one day. Also I’ve read several reviews on this product. Everyone loves it!

Saw an online seller selling this for $38 each (!!!) (It costs roughly SGD30 in Singapore so $38 is reasonable enough) – also a reason why I’m putting this on my wishlist. I need time to afford this HAHAHA

I’m kinda in a break from buying makeups too hahaha! (excluding ELF Lip Brush I received a few days ago – ordered this a few months back, also my new compact powder since I lost mine. So these two are an exception!)

Lime Crime Velvetines comes in 6 different shades (including Wicked, Pink Velvet, Black Velvet and Salem). Ah I love Wicked too! But I guess the shade will not suite me though.

Also it will be helpful if someone can tell me where I can get this in Malaysia? Anyone?

Colour Me Pink

20140118-231252.jpgWent out with my favorite! #DoubleUmmi day out. Went makeup hunting. Spent over my January budget but hey, why not?

Got myself elf Mechanical Eyelash Curler. You know I am a big fan of elf! It comes with an extra rubber and I got this from Paloma at $7.90 only!

We went around and tried different lipsticks. I, somehow got my eyes on the pinkiest pink I can get. I don’t know why. I actually wanted to stay away from that shade. Tried Holika Holika’s, I love the shade but since it is matte, and my lips were quite dry, it looked terrible. But I will get one from them one day. Tried The Face Shop’s as well but the shade is funkier than Holika Holika’s. So we skipped both.

Went straight to The Body Shop since I was looking for a gift for someone and I ended up with one for myself!

Bought The Body Shop’s Colour Crush Lipstick – in Redhot Raspberry for me and Damson In Distress for someone. I tried Passionate Pink and Redhot Raspberry and settled for the latter.

20140118-231336.jpgI absolutely LOVE the packaging!

The photos don’t do any justice on how beautiful the shade is (also please excuse my asian pose.)

20140118-231446.jpgHow the shade looked like on me under yellow lighting

There’s discount when I purchased these. I got the lipstick at $15+ each. Actual price is $19.90.

I think I should stop purchasing makeup for the time being. It’s not even February yet!

Skin Food Makeup Haul + Choco Smoky Waterproof Eyeline Jam Review

I still have a lot of food posts pending on my drafts (I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!) And Semester 4 finally started! Excited? Yes. Scared? Yes.

Anyways, I got myself a new phone so YAY! Let’s hope I can take better pictures now.

So! My first makeup haul in 2014. Decided to drop by Skin Food nearby.

I got  a pack of Black Sugar Mask Wash Off as a freebie. It claimed to provide luster and smoothness to skin. Gotta try it soon!

Update as of May 9th:
Tried this and I love it. It smells like a sweet tea. It removes blackheads well but it might be a little rough on your skin, so if you’re to use this, use it as gently as you can 🙂

I got myself a piece (yes, a piece) of Chlorella Nose Clear Patch. Simply because I needed one and it costs $1.60 (obviously cheaper when you get a box).

20140108-230307.jpgAND MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE! I finally (for now) found my new ultimate favorite eyeliner! I went there, straight away asked for “smudge-proof, waterproof eyeliner”. So far, my favorite has been a pain to deal with. Without fail, I will actually get smudges after a few hours. But this. This is the best I’ve found.

Choco Smoky Waterproof Eyeline Jam (Black) – $22.90

After the eyeliner dries up, it does not smudge, it is waterproof. And it is easy to remove as well.

It comes with a short brush – which I love too. I know I should remove the sticker but I decided to just leave it the way it is..

The thickness of the lines are adjustable. I also surprisingly finds it easier to draw with this brush. It’s smooth to draw with, and a little hard to make sure it gives solid line. So another plus point for me.

I did not finish wearing my Maybelline, and this one seems to have more compared to Maybelline so.. I have no idea when I will finish wearing this.

But will I repurchase this? Definitely YES.

(I got these two at a discounted price so my total damage for my whole purchase was $19.60 instead of $24.50.)

So it’s been four months and my verdict for this eyeliner? Still love it! Except that it’s a pain that I have to wash the brush much more compared to Maybelline’s. The gel is quite dense and it hardens the brush. But, I guess that is not a problem considering it is one of my favorite item for 2014.

Classic Red

HAPPY NEW YEAR! A new year, a new beginning. Yes, I know, cliché.

Anyways, just a short short short review/look for the day.
My cousin got engaged a few days ago so that was one of the chances I grabbed to try my makeup ‘skills’ (which is near to non-existent).

I aimed for a classic-red-lipstick-and-winged-eyeliner look. Just like this video.

For this look, I put on my usual foundation (L’oreal True Match Foundation in…. Apricot Ivory), compact powders and concealers, Elianto Eye Primer, La Tulipe Eye shadow Base (which is amazing! Thank you Ummi for introducing this to me.)

And then, I started working with my winged eyeliner. I practiced it twice, nights before this event since I’ve never done one. But of course, it’s always perfect when you’re all relax. It was a disaster when I did it on the actual day. I had to keep fixing it with makeup remover and concealers. It took me a while! Oh! I used Maybelline Gel Eyeliner along with IN2IT Waterproof Eyeliner (refer to this post).

Not the best I’ve owned so far though. Although Maybelline is quite easy to deal with, it smudges – not as what it claimed. So that’s a big minus. Nevertheless, I love the colour it gives me. IN2IT is also easy to deal with, however, the brush is getting a little hard to work with now.

Once I’m done with my eyeliner, I applied one of my favorite lipstick – Silky Girl Moisture Rich Lipstick in Vamp.

Nevertheless, mission was a success. Got a thumbs up from my “guru”! Lol! (also excuse my eyebags and dark circles!)
